Who this is for

You are changing your name, your gender marker, or both. Maybe you have put the paperwork off because you were not sure how you would be treated when you asked for help. That is a fair worry, and it is one we take seriously.

It might also be a name change after a marriage ends, a return to a family name, or a parent handling paperwork for a child. Whatever the reason, the choices are yours. Deanna prepares the paperwork the way you direct.

What the service covers

Deanna Wilson, a registered and bonded Legal Document Assistant, prepares the forms you select using the information you give her, and checks names, spellings and every page before anything is printed. If any of your paperwork needs a notarized signature, Marcie Ramirez can come to you for that.

  • Preparation of the name change or gender change paperwork you select, at your direction
  • A careful check of your names as you want them to appear
  • A draft for you to review before anything is signed or filed
  • Notarization of any signature that needs it, at your location

What to have ready

  • Your current legal name, and the name and gender marker you want, spelled exactly as you want them to appear.
  • The forms you have chosen, or the list of what you want prepared. Deanna cannot choose forms for you.
  • A current government issued photo ID for any signature that will be notarized, such as a driver license, state ID card or passport.
  • If your ID shows a different name than the one on a document, tell us before the appointment so we can talk it through.
  • Do not sign anything that needs notarizing before the notary is there.
  • Any court notices or instructions you have already received.
