Who this is for

You and your spouse or domestic partner have decided to end the marriage or partnership, and you plan to handle the case yourselves without attorneys. Often the two of you have already worked out most of the details and simply want the paperwork prepared correctly.

You might be the one starting the case, or the one responding. Either way, you decide what goes in your paperwork. Deanna prepares it the way you direct, at a price you know up front.

What the service covers

Deanna Wilson is a registered and bonded Legal Document Assistant with 40 years in legal settings. She prepares the forms you select for a dissolution of marriage or domestic partnership, using the information you give her, and checks every page before it is printed.

Court requirements vary from case to case, and you decide what to file and when. Deanna cannot represent you in court or advise you about your rights.

  • Preparation of the petition or response paperwork you select, at your direction
  • A careful check of names, dates and every page
  • A draft for you to review before anything is signed or filed
  • Notarization of any signature that needs it, at your location

What to have ready

  • Full legal names of both spouses or partners, spelled exactly, and the other key dates and details you want included.
  • The forms you have chosen, or a clear list of what you want prepared. Deanna cannot choose forms for you.
  • Any court papers you have already filed or received.
  • The decisions the two of you have made, written down if that helps. Deanna prepares what you direct and cannot suggest terms.
  • A current government issued photo ID for any signature that needs a notary, such as a driver license, state ID card or passport.
  • Do not sign anything that needs notarizing before the notary is there.

Questions

Divorce and dissolution paperwork with Doc Prep & Notary Services is $300 to $350. We confirm your price before any work starts.

In California, the title paralegal is reserved for people who work under an attorney's supervision. When someone is representing themselves and wants the forms they choose prepared for them, that work is done by a registered Legal Document Assistant. That is Deanna's role. Whether to involve an attorney is your decision.

Deanna is a Certified Divorce Mediator, and that training helps her keep paperwork appointments calm and organized. Mediation is not legal advice, and in her role as a Legal Document Assistant she prepares what the two of you direct. She cannot tell either of you what is fair, what to ask for, or what a court will do. If the two of you want a neutral to help you reach your own agreement, Deanna also offers mediation as a separate service.

Deanna can still prepare the paperwork you direct. When a case is contested, many people choose to speak with an attorney. That is your decision to make.

Our price covers document preparation at your direction. Any fees the court charges are separate and paid to the court. We will confirm what your price covers before any work starts.

Yes. Judgment packets are a separate service. See our divorce judgment packets page, or ask when you call.
