Who this is for
You and your spouse, partner or the other parent want to settle things between yourselves instead of fighting it out. Maybe you agree on most of it and are stuck on a few points. Maybe you simply want a calm, organized place to talk it through.
Mediation works best when both people choose to take part and can speak for themselves. You each keep the final say. Nothing is decided unless the two of you agree to it.
What mediation covers
Mediation is a conversation guided by a neutral person. Deanna helps the two of you lay out the topics, hear each other, and work toward terms you both accept, whether that is dividing property, a parenting plan, or other parts of a divorce or separation.
Deanna is not anyone's advocate. She does not take sides, and she does not give legal advice to either of you. She cannot tell you what is fair, what to ask for, or what a court would do. Each of you may want to talk with your own attorney before, during or after mediation. That is your decision.
If the two of you reach an agreement, Deanna can then prepare the paperwork you select, at your direction, as a registered and bonded Legal Document Assistant. That is a separate service with its own price. Marcie Ramirez, our California Notary Public first commissioned in 2003, can notarize any signature that needs it.
- Guided sessions with a neutral mediator for both of you
- Help keeping the topics organized and the conversation calm
- Room for each person to be heard
- Paperwork preparation at your direction afterward, if you want it, priced separately
- Notarization of any signature that needs it, at your location
What to have ready
- A short list of the topics the two of you want to work through, such as property, debts or a parenting schedule.
- Any court papers you have already filed or received, and your case number if you have one.
- Your own notes on what matters most to you. Deanna will not tell you what to ask for.
- Your calendars, if you plan to talk about parenting time or schedules.
- If either of you feels unsafe or unable to speak freely with the other, tell Deanna before the first session.

Questions
A mediator is a neutral person who helps two people talk through their differences and work toward their own agreement. Deanna keeps the conversation organized and balanced between you. She does not decide anything and does not take either side.
Mediation with Doc Prep & Notary Services is $100 per hour, with a 3-hour minimum. Call (619) 345-0006 to schedule.
No. Deanna is a Certified Divorce Mediator and a registered Legal Document Assistant, not an attorney. She cannot advise either of you about your rights, what is fair, or what a court would do.
Many people do. Each of you may consult your own attorney at any point, including before you sign anything. Whether to do that is your decision.
Deanna can prepare the paperwork you select at your direction, as a separate service with its own price, and Marcie can notarize any signature that needs it. Deanna cannot choose forms for you, and filing with the court is up to you.
That can happen. Mediation does not force an agreement, and nothing is decided unless you both accept it. Many people in that situation choose to speak with an attorney.
