Who this is for

You have a document that needs a notary and you would rather not drive across town, wait in line, or take time off work. Maybe a parent at home cannot easily get out, or you are juggling kids and a deadline.

You may be signing a single form, or a small stack of papers for several people at the same table. Either way, the notary comes to you and the price is published before you call.

What the appointment covers

Marcie travels to the address you give us, checks each signer's identification, watches each person sign, and completes the notarial certificate with her seal.

Most of our work starts with paperwork. When Deanna Wilson, our registered Legal Document Assistant, prepares documents at a client's direction, Marcie is the one who comes to notarize them. If you already have your document in hand, the mobile notary appointment works on its own.

  • Travel to a home, office, coffee shop or other location you choose in San Diego County
  • Identity check for each signer
  • Notarization of the signatures on your document
  • An entry in the notary journal for every notarization
  • $15 for each notarized signature, on top of the travel fee

What to have ready

  • A current government issued photo ID for every signer, such as a driver license, state ID card or passport.
  • The complete document, with every page, not just the signature page.
  • Leave the document unsigned. Each person signs in front of the notary.
  • Make sure the name on the document matches the name on the signer's ID.
  • Every signer present, alert, and willing to sign.
  • A clear table or flat surface and enough light to read and sign.
  • Any instructions you received about how the document must be signed or returned.

Questions

A mobile notary visit has a travel fee of $50 minimum, up to $80, depending on how far you are from our Mission Valley base, plus $15 per notarized signature. We serve all of San Diego County, including Central San Diego, East County, South Bay and North County. Your exact price is confirmed when we call you back.

No. A notary confirms who is signing and that they are signing willingly. A notary does not explain what a document means or what it will do. If you have questions about the legal effect of your document, ask an attorney before the appointment.

Tell us when you book. In some situations California allows a signer's identity to be confirmed through credible witnesses who know the signer and have their own ID. Whether that works depends on the details, so we will talk it through with you before the appointment.

Please do not. The notary needs to watch each person sign. If a document was signed early, it may need to be signed again in front of the notary.

Yes. Each signer needs their own ID and must be present. The travel fee covers the trip, and each notarized signature is $15, so tell us how many signatures to expect when you book.
